Although Cycling Australia has decided to discontinue the three-year run of its lackluster Sydney Bike and Lifestyle Show – and with Melbourne’s Ausbike deciding to opt out this year as well – the Fitness Show NSW has stepped in to bring a fresh perspective to the industry for 2014.

Scheduled for October 18-19, and coinciding with the Cycling and Wellbeing Festival, the two-day Fitness Show is relocating to Sydney Olympic Park for the first time, and will showcase the latest products and services for cyclists and multisport enthusiasts.

Key features of the event are the inclusion of a Bike and Endurance Zone and a partnership with the Spring Cycle, the city’s annual mass-participation ride and the only cycling event allowed across the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The event will showcase the latest products and services for cyclists and multisport enthusiasts.

The Spring Cycle finishes directly outside the show venue and pre registered participants will get free access to the show at the conclusion of their ride.

For more than 20 years, the Fitness Show has attracted over 20,000 fitness enthusiasts and professionals annually, and with the inclusion of the cycling and multisport industry, event organisers are expecting a significant growth this year as the Spring Cycle regularly attracts upwards of 8,000-plus riders on the Sunday alone.

“Our research has shown that the majority of attendees to our show are training for a sporting event with almost half of those being cycling-focused or having a cycling component,” said Fitness Show NSW manager Shaun Krenz.

“Cycling is a growing sport that’s showing no signs of slowing down and we’re very excited to be partnering with Bicycle NSW and the Spring Cycle event to create what will be an exciting day for those who love to ride.”

The expo will feature the latest fitness gadgets, experts and celebrities, such as the ‘Commando’ Steve Willis of The Biggest Loser and Australia’s Healthy Chef, Teresa Cutter. The Bike and Endurance Zone will also feature informative sessions on bikes, multisport and endurance with contributions from cycling and triathlon personalities, nutritionists and experts in sports science.

Friends and family of Spring Cycle riders wishing to enter the Fitness Show can do so with a discounted ticket offer that will be made available to participants. Any children under 12 enter free.

Alternatively, show tickets cost $30 for one day or $50 for a two-day pass. For more information visit fitness-show.com.au.
