The 2015 Fizik Aliante heralds the saddle series’ first complete redesign in 15 years. This new edition offers lighter weight and sleeker looks, but is still the same comfortable seat that's loved by sportive riders around the world.

The redesign process at Fizik focused on maintaining the lauded seat dimensions and curve of the original Aliante, while bringing the look up to date with the Arione range. The V-shaped cutout at the rear of the saddle has been removed while the nose now tapers into a slightly sharper point. Larger plastic scuff guards adorn each side, while the graphics have also been updated. Overall the new Aliante looks smoother and sleeker.

To fit in with the rest of Fizik’s range, the 2015 Aliante is available in R1, R3 and R5 flavours. The top-end R1 (€250) featured here has a claimed weight of 185g (183g on our scales) and features a carbon and nylon composite shell – allowing flex without the old twinflex cutaways – and braided carbon rails. The cover is thermo-welded over lightweight Fizik-exclusive padding.

The R3 has a claimed weight of 220g, a fibreglass and nylon hull, thermo-welded cover and a choice of carbon (€199) or K:ium (€169) rails. The R5 (€149) has a carbon-injected nylon hull with K:ium rails and a microtex cover, and weighs in at 245g.

The Aliante is classified as Bull in Fizik’s spine concept system, meaning it’s designed for athletes with poorer hamstring and back flexibility.
