Suspension manufacturer Fox Racing Shox has issued a voluntary recall of up to 40,000 Evolution series forks manufactured between March 1, 2012 and November 30, 2012.

This recall applies to 2013 model year Evolution Series Float suspension forks with 32mm and 34mm chassis and 120-160mm of travel.

The fork damper cylinder / piston assembly in some of these forks may separate and allow the fork to over-extend under certain circumstances, possibly causing the front wheel to detach from the bicycle while in use. The company has received one report of an incident in which a broken damper may have caused the fork to over extend and allowed the front wheel to detach.
