Removable chin piece lids also permitted

Full face helmets will be mandatory for next year's UK Gravity Enduro series, according to a statement issued by the event organisers yesterday.

Helmets with a removable chin piece, such as Bell's much spoken about Super 2R model, will also be permitted for use.

The move follows British Cycling's decision to not insure enduro events for the foreseeable future. The full statement is below:

"Following a meeting yesterday, here is the official ruling for helmets in 2015:

“A helmet with either a fixed or removable chin piece will be mandatory on all stages, Saturday and Sunday, at UKGE.

“A helmet must be on your head and secured properly at all times. Any infringement of either of these rules will result in a DQ [disqualification] from the event.”

With the recent announcement by British Cycling to not continue their support of enduro from 2015, it now falls on the riders and organisers to ensure adequate safety measures are taken and adhered to.
