Giant Contact SLR carbon seatposts recalled

Recall applies to 2013 XtC Advanced SL hardtails and aftermarket posts

Giant is recalling 2013 model year XtC Advanced SL 29er 0 and 29er 1 hardtails equipped with the company's Contact SLR carbon seatpost, as well as 2013 27.2mm Contact SLR posts sold aftermarket. The recall applies to products purchased at bicycle retailers across the United States between November 2012 and May 2013.

There have been five reports of the 2013 Contact SLR seatpost breaking. No injuries have been reported. Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled seatposts immediately and contact a Giant dealer for a free replacement. The bikes sold for between $4,300 and $7,700. The aftermarket Contact SLR seatpost cost $200.
