As one of the biggest cycling retailers in the UK, Halfords is a great place to find some absolute bargains this Black Friday.
UK brands and retailers have adopted the shopping event that started as a US tradition, and is now one of the best opportunities to bag a major price drop on respected cycling brands.
Last year, Halfords’ sales spanned across everything from 20 per cent off all kids’ bikes to healthy discounts on tool kits, adult bikes and cycling accessories, with sales running right through the weekend and into Cyber Monday. This year we’re expecting even more, with many retailers releasing their deals earlier and earlier.
The flurry of flash deals can get overwhelming, plus the risk of depleting one’s wallet through spontaneous purchases is dangerously high during Black Friday. So we’ve kept an eye on the prices of products we find, to bring you the best deals worth considering.
We’ll be updating this page across the whole of the Black Friday event and through to Cyber Monday, so check back here for all the best Halfords Black Friday deals for 2020.
When is Black Friday 2020?
Black Friday is an annual event which sees brands and retailers running offers on everything from tech and bike gadgets to complete bikes and more. This year, Black Friday falls on Friday 27 November and is directly followed by Cyber Monday on 30 November.
Interestingly, over the last few years we’ve seen retailers start their deals weeks in advance. Amazon Prime Day is an excellent example of this, which took place over the 13 and 14 October. So, although Black Friday isn’t until November, we’ll be seeing more and more deals appearing during the run-up to the big day.
Everyone’s traditional Christmas shopping habits will be affected by the pandemic this year, so we can expect there to be fewer people hitting the shops and more people buying online. With this in mind, brands are likely to share their best deals and offers online and in plenty of time before Christmas.
Best early Halfords Black Friday Deals
Half price Halfords Advanced Ground Anchor when you buy Halfords Advanced Cycle Lock
Buy any Halfords Advanced Cycle Lock and you can save 50 per cent on its Advanced Ground Anchor, which usually retails for £35.
The anchor itself is Gold Sold rated and is designed to provide a safe bike storage solution at home with the use of a chain or D-lock. It’s secured to the floor using four masonry screws and metal plugs. Plus the D-ring folds down to reduce its risk as a tripping hazard.
The best bike insurance policies usually require you to have a secure object onto which you can lock your bike, so this could be a relatively low cost way of fulfilling the terms of coverage. Always check with your insurance provider.
Black Friday tool deals
Halfords Advanced 200-piece socket and ratchet set –
If you’re looking to expand or start building a home bike workshop or just need a general tool kit, you could do much, much worse than this heavily discounted ratchet and spanner set.
Taken from Halfords’ Advanced lineup – which offers a lifetime guarantee on all tools – this 200-piece set has a whopping £65 saving ahead of Black Friday.
Black Friday bike deals
Wiggins Pau Balance Bike –
We love the retro paint job of the Wiggins balance bike. Weighing in at 3.6kg, its low aluminium frame and 12in wheels are built for little riders to scoot along on as a first set of wheels.
A lifetime guarantee covers frameset, plus there’s a carry handle built in for those times when the novelty of scooting wears off. You can make a 20 per cent saving on this while stocks last in the clearance sale.
Wiggins Rouen ADV junior road bike –
For kids aged 9 to 12 years with a penchant for road riding, the Wiggins Rouen is a road bike built to be a lightweight and strong cycling machine. Added to the aluminium frame are 19in wheels and a 16-speed Shimano groupset.
Weighing just under the 10kg mark and built with cantilever brakes, the bike could be used by up-and-coming cyclocrossers and comes with an additional pair of cyclocross tyres. This model is in the clearance sale, so will be available until stocks last.
How to get a good deal on Black Friday
- Do your research beforehand so you have a particular product in mind, or make a list of products to watch out for. This will help you stay focused and avoid too many spontaneous purchases
- Be familiar with the RRP price of the products so you can better judge the savings available with each deal
- Many brands use Black Friday as a way to clear space for newer stock and product models. The latest models might not automatically be on sale so you’ll likely make the best savings on older versions of products
- Shop around. The UK’s biggest cycling retailers such as Wiggle and Amazon will all be competing for your business, so once you’ve found the item you want, do a little price comparison to avoid paying more than you need to
- Once you’ve found the product at a price you like the look of, make your decision quickly. Stock may be limited, so you don’t want to miss your chance
Should I wait for Cyber Monday?
Where in previous years you might have waited for Cyber Monday to find the best deals online, retailers are likely to take full advantage of fewer people visiting stores and, instead, make the majority of offers live on their websites.
