Late last night an email dropped into our inboxes with a simple quote from US sports agent and writer Mark McCormack, and some pictures of a rather intriguing looking new Commencal — a Meta AM 29.

The quote: "You don't have to reinvent the wheel, just attach it to a new wagon"

We've loved riding both versions of the 27.5in Meta V4.2: the AM V4.2 and TR V4.2, as well as Commencal's eMTB the Commencal MetaPower. But one thing that had been missing from the Meta range was a big wheeler.

The bike in the pictures is clearly going to be an AM model, thanks to the burly RockShox Lyrik fork plugged up front and Super Deluxe Coil shock at the back.

Spank wheels have a great reputation when the trail gets tough and there are Schwalbe Magic Mary and Hans Dampf tyres in the Addix Soft compound — again suggesting a bike that'll be best suited to rough trails.

Renthal and Fabric finishing kit joins a GX Eagle groupset on this particular model, but we assume there will be various build kits available when it comes to market.

Much like the rest of the range, this Meta AM 29 has an alloy frame.

As soon as we have more details we'll fill you in with all you need to know, and rest-assured, as soon as we get to ride one we'll give you the full run-down on what we suspect will be one of the fastest 29er enduro bikes around.
