Kinesis has asked BikeRadar to help it to reach out to all Kinesis owners with regards to its ongoing recall of potentially lethal forks.
The forks became the subject of a recall after a cyclist died from injuries following a crash last August. This week a Coroner ruled that it was the failure of the Kinesis Racelight T forks on Jonathan Weatherley's bike that was responsible for the injuries that led to his death.
As reported by the Halstead Gazette, Senior Coroner Caroline Beasley-Murray said: "Jonathan Weatherley probably applied braking through his front brakes for some unknown reason, causing the bonding between the carbon fibre blades and aluminium crown to fail, as a result of the fact that the bonding material had not adequately bonded these two components together. Jonathan died as a result of his injuries sustained in this accident."
Alistair Mackenzie of law firm Leigh Day added that "Around 90 per cent of the products have not been taken from circulation and only 246 of about 2,000 have been returned."
If you own one of these forks, or know anyone who may, please read this recall information so that Upgrade Bikes Ltd (Kinesis UK distributor) can replace the affected forks. This is the same recall the company began back in October 2015.

The danger
- Possibility of bonding failure between fork crown and steerer tube.
- Possibility of bonding failure between fork crown and carbon fork leg.
- Resulting loss of control / fall which may result in serious injury.
What you need to do
- Stop using your fork immediately.
- Return your fork either via the retailer you purchased it from or directly to Upgrade Bikes Limited, Racelight T Carbon Fork 2003 - 2009 Recall, Returns Dept. Units A-B, Star Road, Partridge Green, West Sussex. RH13 8RA
