The "retro-chic" Lambretta brand will launch into the bicycle market at the London Cycle Show next week.

UK distributor Fisher Outdoor Leisure has bought the rights to make Lambretta bikes, and their first model will be the limited release Li126 Lambretta Bicicletta. The Li126 is a city cruiser said to be modelled on the "cult Lambretta scooter of the mod era". It's available in men's (S/M/L) and women's (S/M) versions and features plenty of Lambretta branding on the frame, saddle, mudguards and tyres. Even down to the colours, which are white and chrome.

The more technical specs of the bike include an aluminium frame, Tektro disc brakes, Wellgo flat pedals, Truvativ Isoflow cranks, a (white) KMC chain, SRAM X.5 9 speed gears (11-28 cassette), an air-shock suspension fork and 26in tyres mounted on 32-spoke wheels.

Fisher has set the recommended retail price of the bikes at £599, with plans for more models in spring 2010.

"We are huge fans of Lambretta, and as such have been faithful in our efforts to create a bicycle with style and class, that is in keeping with the brand heritage," said Fisher Outdoor CEO Richard Allmark.
