Canadian hardcore clothing specialists Mace may not be the best known brand out there but we’ve been impressed by their gear in the past and they have plenty of new mountain bike kit for summer 2010.
First up is a limited edition new colourway called ‘Punk’ which you can find on everything from jerseys to gloves and helmets, and is definitely one for the extrovert.
Pictured is the Caliber jersey which is made of wicking polyester with a mesh back panel to keep you cool. It’s been designed to stretch easily so you can wear it over body armour.
Other features include sublimated graphics and an MP3 player pocket on the right shoulder. As well as the ‘Punk’ look it’s available in a more subdued grey/white. RRP is £64.95.
The matching Caliber glove has all the features you’d expect – silicone finger tips for grip, spandex patches for improved fit and a terry cloth snot wipe on the thumb – plus carbon fibre knuckle protection and a Kevlar palm patch. It’s also available in ‘charcoal/sky’. RRP is £39.95.
Also available in the ‘Punk’ colourway is the C4 pisspot helmet at a bargain £19.95. This polycarbonate-shelled lid passes CPSC and CE safety standards, and is available in two sizes. It’s also available in ‘Carbon’, ‘Steel’ and ‘Hardwood’ finishes.
For riders who prefer a more casual look, the Mirage jersey is a technical T-shirt that’s as at home in the pub as on the trails. This polyester top has an antimicrobial and wicking finish to ward off sweat and body odour, and costs £39.95.
Mace’s womenswear is now available in the UK for the first time, and judging by this Haven jersey it could be a hit with riders who are dissatisfied with the usual pink/baby blue options. It’s made of 100 percent polyester with wicking bamboo charcoal and an antimicrobial finish. Available in sizes small, medium and large, RRP is £44.95.
