Best known in the UK for its mountain bikes, US brand Marin will be adding four road bikes to its range later this year.

It’s not as strange a move as it initially sounds – the Californian company has made a big impact with its flat bar commuting range in the UK and has actually been selling road bikes in its home market for two decades.

The flagship bike is the Verona T3 Carbon. With a full carbon 900g frame, a Shimano Tiagra double mated to an FSA Gossamer compact, Shimano R500 wheels and a sportive-friendly ‘Endurance Fit’ geometry it looks like a highly competitive package. The production model will even have fully integrated cabling for both brakes and gears.

Next in line is the double butted 6061 aluminium £949.99 Argenta Elite. This uses the same Endurance Fit geometry as the Verona with a full carbon fork, Shimano R500 wheels and a Tiagra triple set up.

The Argenta Comp at £699.99 uses the same frame and fork but comes with a Shimano Sora nine-speed triple and Alex DC25 wheels on Formula hubs, while the £599.99 Argenta A6 gets an alloy fork and eight-speed Sora triple mated to 2300 STI shifters.

Marin’s UK distributor ATB Sales says that the aluminium alloy Argenta should hit stores from October with the Verona joining the line up by the end of the year.
