Road Bike Party 3, the latest in a series of videos by trials riding extraordinaire Martyn Ashton, has landed just in time for Christmas.
This third film sees dirt jump icon Sam Pilgrim climb aboard a road bike for a bike-hopping new twist, while Ashton moves behind the camera. Watch the video below:

This is the first in the series of stunt shows to be shot after Ashton's 2013 accident that left him paralysed from the waist down – Road Bike Party 2 used footage shot prior to Asthon's accident and was completed with later footage of Danny MacAskill and Chris Akrigg. The two former instalments garnered more than 23 million views on YouTube.
The latest episode was shot in San Diego, California, apart from the beginning and ending sequences, which were filmed at the RampWorld BMX park in Cardiff, UK. Countless jumps, drops and crashes occurred during a 'brutal' 10 days of filming, according to the production team. Stunts include a backflip 15ft above ground and a 7ft drop onto concrete.
Ashton said: “We could have done the riding in the UK but around the time of filming, the weather wasn’t good enough. The trails would have been too muddy.”
“We also wanted to focus on one location and base the whole film there rather than roaming the country like we’ve done with the previous two. And let’s be honest – who wouldn’t want to bike in California?”

Pilgrim, riding a road bike for the first time, said: "It was scary at times, especially using dropped bars. There's a scene where I ride across a tree. I'm not a trials rider and the second attempt saw me faceplant [it]. I almost lost another tooth."
The 2013 FMB World Tour champion used a Ridley Noah frame, FSA’s K-Force carbon road-racing drop bars, stem, seatpost and K-Force Light cranks, Vision’s Metron 55 and 81 carbon clincher wheels, a Prologo Nago Evo saddle, an 11-speed (11-28) Shimano cassette with mechanical shifting, and Continental GP4000 tyres to make the short film.
“I’ve known Sam for years and he’s one of the greatest riders in the world across any discipline. He absolutely nailed it,” said Ashton.
