Meet the UK’s cycling stars at Cycle Show 2009

The London Cycle Show takes place at Earls Court this week (9-11 October), where you’ll get the chance to meet British Cycling’s top athletes and ogle their racing machines.

On the road side of things, Olympic Gold medalists Nicole Cooke, Jamie Staff, Victoria Pendleton and Ed Clancy will be joined by 2006 World Triathlon champion Tim Don as well as cycling legend Eddie Merckx.

Representing the mountain bike crowd will be Gee, Dan and Rachel Atherton, elite downhill rider Jaymie Mart, Rocky Mountain team 4X rider Scott Beaumont Olympic BMX rider Shanaze Reade.

Medal-winning machines

Steve Peat’s World Championship winning Santa Cruz V10 downhill bike will be on display, along with the world record breaking and gold medal winning team pursuit track bike that Ed Clancy rode at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Shanaze Reade will be at the Sabbath Bicycles stand talking about the new Pure Bicycles titanium machine that she’ll be riding in the 2010 season.

British Cycling’s CEO, Ian Drake, said: “As the governing body of cycling, we cover all aspects of the sport, from creating the world’s best athletes to getting people on a bike for the first time.

“This week visitors to the Cycle Show can speak to us directly to find out what we are about and what we can do for them, whether they cycle to compete, ride to work or ride for the thrill of it.”
