The Mondraker Summum was probably the most talked about downhill bike of last year thanks to its super-slack angles, but the Spanish company are already working on an updated version with new geometry.
Mondraker Factory Team rider Fabien Barel was spotted riding a prototype at the Mont-Sainte-Anne World Cup round earlier this month, and it featured in the squad's video report from the event, which you can view below.
The new design doesn't look to be a radical departure – it looks nigh-on identical to the current bike – so we asked Barel for the lowdown. "The frame is a prototype we're testing with a custom geometry closer to a motocross style of riding," he said.
"The goal is to increase stability without reducing the handling capacity of the bike. I rode it in Mont-Sainte-Anne and had to swap back in Windham as I couldn't get used to it – that's what testing is about! But we'll keep pushing on in that direction..."
