Australian downhiller Nathan Rennie has left the Santa Cruz Syndicate team after five years.

During his time on the Syndicate, Rennie made the podium 40 times, was twice Australian national champion and earned a bronze medal at the 2006 UCI World Championships. It has not been confirmed who he will be riding for in 2009.

Rennie said: “I’m a little lost for words. For some time now I’ve needed some change in my life, on and off the bike. I feel a change is for the best in all aspects. I’m looking forward to getting back to my best and having the right outlook to better myself, and the new people around me.”

Former Syndicate team-mate Steve Peat said: “I’d like to thank Nathan for all the fun times we’ve had together over the past three years I’ve been on the Syndicate. He was the kingpin when I joined the Syndicate and I learned lots from him.”
