British company VeloSolo, who specialise in the manufacture of cycling components like headset spacers, singlespeed kits and track parts have released a new range of chainrings.

Machined from 4mm thick 7075-T6 aluminium, these ‘super strong’ pieces are intended for singlespeed/track use, with varieties for on and off-road.

As well as the usual 3/32" mountain bike width in 104mm BCD the company are also doing a 1/8" mountain bike specific singlespeed ring.

Max from VeloSolo told BikeRadar: "We're really proud these are a 100 percent UK product, designed and made in England by traditional engineers who have been in the sprocket business for over 30 years. We use top spec aircraft grade heat-treated 7075-T6 aluminium alloy in a 4mm thickness for all the rings, thicker than the standard 3mm or 3.5mm.

"They are very strong and very 'round' and like our matching 7075 track cogs we are confident of a long life. Additionally it has been difficult to find singlespeed specific mountain-bike rings in a 1/8" so this is filling a niche for a stronger, longer lasting rings over the normal 3/32" width."

The road/track version costs £29.95 and comes in three BCD (bolt circle diameter) patterns, two widths and two designs. The mountain bike version will set you back £24.95.
