Cross-country racers Jay and Maddie Horton were fed up with the lack of opportunities to compete near their Devon base so they've set up their own summer series.

The 2010 Fully Sussed South West Mountain Bike Series consists of four Sunday races with British Cycling ranking points plus five grassroots evening races.

Maddie, the reigning English mountain bike marathon champion, said: "We're organising a South West race series because people have been asking for one. The mountain biking scene in the South West is thriving at the moment and we want to help it to grow, and invest in the future of cycling."

Any profits will be invested back into the sport locally. Each round will be sponsored by a local shop, while the series is being sponsored by Accelerade, Shred and Osprey. The aim is to provide a quality race experience for all abilities, from children and novices through to elite and expert riders.
