New GoPro Hero+ packs Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for AU$300

Today GoPro has added a new model to its range of action cameras, the new GoPro Hero+ packs Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for £170 / US$200 / AU$300.

This is Good News for all riders who want to film their exploits in glorious high definition – GoPro has built an enviable reputation for offering enjoyable, high-quality action cameras that deliver superb image quality.

The increased connectivity means that the new Hero+ will be able to provide access to GoPro's feature-packed smartphone app and its ability to remotely control the camera and preview footage and shots.

The app also allows content sharing like never before on an entry-level GoPro device, users can now create short edits on their phones which can be shared directly to Facebook and Instagram, amongst other apps. Similarly, owners of the new device can make use of its Smart Remote accessory (sold separately), which allows users to control multiple GoPro's from up to 180m away.

The Hero+ also takes a step up on its AU$190 entry-level sibling by offering 1080p recording at a full 60 frames per second, and the ability to capture stills at 8 megapixels. Elsewhere, the camera is very similar to its cheaper Hero sibling, with the same integrated waterproof(40m) housing. The integrated battery of the Hero is also present.

In other news from GoPro, the company's latest generation Hero 4 Session camera has seen its price reduced to the more accessible figure of £249.99 / US$299.99 / AU$450.

The Hero+ will be available at authorised GoPro retailers from October 4.
