With just under a month until British pros fight for the red and blue stripes of national road race champion in Wales, fans have been invited to make a weekend of it and ride a sportive based on the route.

Sandwiched between the elite men’s and women’s time trials on Thursday 26 June and the elite road races on the Sunday 29 June, three varying sportive routes will be held on the middle Saturday on the Monmouthshire course – and the 100-mile (160km) route takes in the infamous Tumble climb in South Wales.

And to lure participants, organisers have created a video called Be Like Bradley, which pays homage to the 2012 Tour de France winner's yellow jersey and bushy sideburns. They hope will inspire people to throw a leg over their bikes and get riding. Watch it here:

The sportive routes include a 20-mile, 62-mile and the gold 100-mile route.

The sportive will also give fans a chance to find their perfect spot to watch the race races the following day. Thousands are expected to head to the Tumble outside Abergaveny.

It was the tough climb where Chris Froome and Bradley Wiggins first crossed swords for the national title in 2009, though the race was eventually won by Kristian House. If they race, both Froome and Wiggins, plus a selection of others stars like Geraint Thomas and Mark Cavendish, should be in top form before the Tour de France starts the following weekend in Yorkshire.
