Niner has updated the BSB 9 RDO with a thru-axle rear end and new two new paint schemes just in time for cyclocross season.

The bsb 9 rdo uses a 142x12mm maxle rear end:

The updated 'cross racer uses a 142x12mm RockShox Maxle rear end and comes with a matching 15x100mm thru-axle fork.

In addition to updating the frame with a thru-axle rear end, Niner claims the company was able to shave 40-50 grams from the frames by reducing the amount of painted areas and by using ultra thin decals under the clearcoat. No word on what weight gain, if any, accompanies the switch to a 142x12mm rear end.

Geometry remains unchanged from the quick-release version introduced last summer. The BSB 9 RDO features internal cable routing, a Press-Fit 30 bottom bracket and clearance for 40mm-wide clinchers.

In addition to red on black, the bsb 9 rdo comes two-tone green:

BSB 9 RDO pricing starts at US$2,300 for the frameset. Complete bikes start at US$3,000 for an 11-speed 105 build and top out with the US$6,500 Ultegra Di2 bike. (UK and Australian pricing was not immediately available.)

Niner expects to begin shipping the BSB 9 RDO the first week of August.
