Pillar Spokes from Nippelshop bring aero performance to disc brake wheels

As a component, the humble spoke is easily overlooked, and that’s despite being a fundamental part of almost every bike wheel in existence.

One person that certainly doesn’t underestimate the value of a spoke is Martin from Nippelshop, who distribute the products of spoke manufacturer Pillar.

In this video, Martin explains why traditional aero spokes are not suitable for today’s disc brake wheels. He also explains Pillar’s solution to this problem, in particular, its unique ovalised spokes that promise better braking and improved efficiency through stiffness and aero gains.
