The Orbea Avant disc road bike introduced last summer is being recalled for "a potential safety issue in a batch of disc brake forks," according to the company. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall Wednesday, saying the fork can crack, but did not specify where.

Orbea has set up a support website for the Avant where riders can enter their bike's serial number to determine whether it is affected by the recall.

Some 715 units are affected. The Orbea Avant bikes were sold between August 2013 and June 2014 for between US$1,200 and US$9,000.
