Riders wanting a place in next year’s iconic Dragon Ride sportive can be the first to know when entries go live by signing up for the Etape Cymru event before 17 August.

Not only is the Etape Cymru – dubbed the UK’s toughest closed roads sportive – a great ride in itself, there’s now the bonus of getting a leg up on the competition when it comes to Dragon Ride slots; a worthwhile endeavour considering all 6,000 places to last year’s event sold out in 12 hours! There's no fixed date for next year's event (though it'll certainly be over the summer months), nor an official opening date for entries.

The 85-mile Etape Cymru features a spiky profile that includes the massive Horseshoe Pass, The Shelf and World’s End climbs – making it one for those who appreciate the Dragon Ride’s long Tour de France-style climbs.

If you fancy tackling the Etape Cymru and want to get your name on the Dragon Ride priority list, all you need to do is enter before 17 August and type ‘DRAGON’ in the 'feel free to type away' box on the entry form.
