At the recent CX World Cup in Milton Keynes, we had the chance to follow the fortunes of British National Cyclocross Champion, Ian Field, and also check out his bike up close.

You can do so too, by watching the video below:

Field rides a Ridley X-Night, the Belgian brand’s top cyclocross machine. It features a high modulus, unidirectional carbon frame with internal cable routing, a tapered head tube and thin seatstays for comfort. The PF30 bottom bracket has plenty of ground clearance for twisty courses.

Naturally, the national champion gets a custom paintjob, with blue and red accents joining the white. Field’s using mechanical Dura-Ace with TA Alize chainrings (46/39) and XTR pedals with Shimano XC90 shoes. The brakes are also from the Japanese company, traditional CX70 cantilever models to handle quick wheel changes and keep mud at bay.

Field uses Fastforward F4R deep section wheels, accompanied by the ever-popular Challenge Limus 33 tubs. Shimano’s finishing kit arm, Pro, handles the cockpit with Vibe 7s stem and bars along with a Pro Turnix saddle.

Here’s our video about Ian Field’s story at the Cyclocross World Cup in Milton Keynes, where Field took the highest ever world cup placing for a British male:
