Revant Eyewear is trying to break the mold of disposable sunglasses. The Portland, Oregon, based company is claiming the industry's best warranty and service to back its motto of "One pair. One life." The company is currently seeking funding for its shades through Kickstarter.

Sunglasses for forever?

"Sunglasses are a part of everyday life for nearly everyone,” said Jason Bolt, founder of Revant. “There is a real need and appreciation for premium quality and convenience when it comes to buying eyewear. Revant enables consumers to easily keep their sunglasses alive forever, making our sunglasses the last pair you'll ever need to buy.”

It's a bold claim as sunglasses, especially those worn for riding, lead a tough life. It's common to misplace your sunnies or damage the frames by sitting on them or crashing in them, or by scratching the lenses.

Revant got its start by selling replacement lenses for all kinds of sunglasses. The company has sold over a million lenses. During that time, Revant also took note of people's complaints and issues.

“With over 500,000 customers through Revant’s replacement lens business, we know eyewear; the good, the bad and the terrible," added Bolt.

For lost sunglasses, Revant states 30% off a new pair of glasses. If the lenses get damaged, Revant offers 20% off all replacement lenses. And if a part of the frame breaks, all the individual arm, nose and other pieces are available.

Three models

Revant's F1L is a high-wrap design that is said to provide "a fortress for your eyes." It's claimed to meet Z87.1 protection, which is an American standard for occupational and educational eye and face protection.

For the gram counters, Revant's S1L sunglasses tickle the scales at a claimed 25g. According to the brand, the nose bridge area has a bit more room to increase ventilation and reduce fogging. The nose pads and arms feature MaxGrip material, which is said to lock the sunglasses on even while sweating.

The S2L model looks to be the most relevant for cyclists. It features a single lens with a wide field of view. Revant states the arms are designed for maximum comfort with or without a helmet.

US made and prescription ready

The lenses are built in Portland, Oregon, and the frames are crafted in Southern California. Lens color options include Fire Red, Stealth Black, Flash Bronze, Titanium and Ice Blue, depending on the frame. Revant lenses are polarized and prescriptions can be added.
