Australia is getting ready for a cycling movie fix, with the Bicycle Film Festival’s leg Down Under ready to kick off this weekend. The festival starts in Sydney on November 13 and runs through to November 16 before moving on to Melbourne from November 19 to 23.

The Melbourne leg of coincides with the city’s UCI Track World Cup round which will also be held next weekend.

The Sydney festival opens with the Bikes Rock party on Thursday November 13, but the first film is Road to Roubaix, which has been getting rave notices at previous Bicycle Film Festival showings for its portrait of the toughest and most prestigious one-day road race, the Paris-Roubaix.

The program also includes Les Ninja du Japon, which follows five semi-pro riders from Japan at the Tour de Faso and sounds like a proper fish-out-of-water tale; The Six-Day Bicycle Races, charting the huge popularity of the Madison track races that dominated American bike racing from the 1880s to the 1950s; and The Way Bobby Sees It, the story of blind downhill racer Bobby McMullen.

There will also be a series of swap meets and parties held in conjunction with the shows.
