Not every mountain biker can afford the latest high performance suspension technology. Thankfully, this tech often trickles down to more realistic price points. RockShox’s new 30 Gold suspension fork looks to balance performance with price.

The 30 Gold will retail for US$330 and will be offered in 26in, 650B and 29in wheelsizes. This suspension fork will be available in 80mm-120mm of travel, comes equipped with the user-friendly Solo Air system, has external rebound damping as well as a lockout in a chassis that tips the scales at a very respectable claimed weight of 3.66lb to 4.03lb (depending on the wheelsize). For comparison, the 26in 30 Gold is 230g lighter than its 26-inch predecessor, the Recon Silver.

The use of magnesium lowers, 30mm aluminum stanchions, a forged aluminum crown and an aluminum steerer keep the weight competitive with forks costing significantly more. We’re looking forward to seeing how the 30 Gold stacks up in terms of performance.

The 30 Gold is offered in all three wheelsizes, and any color you want, so long as that color is black

The 30 Gold will be offered with both straight and tapered steerer tubes. RockShox plans to only offer the 30 Gold in a 9mm quick-release version, at least for now. The fork is shipping to dealers and should be available to consumers shortly.
