Colorado rack company RockyMounts has just announced its new TomaHawk roof rack, designed to accommodate a huge range of bikes, from 20in kids' models to fat bikes with 5in tyres.

AT $159 / €149 (other international pricing was TBC at time of writing), the TomaHawk is a more affordable version of RockyMounts’ BrassKnuckles roof rack, which came out last year.

The TomaHawk works by clamping an arm down over the front tyre with a ratcheting system, then securing the rear wheel with a ratcheting strap.

The rack can lock to the vehicle and lock the bike to the rack. The locks are sold separately.

The rack can carry bikes up to 35lb / 16kg.

The $199 / €184 BrassKnuckles is rated for even heavier bikes (up to 45lb / 21kg), but requires an adapter for tyres wider than 3in.

The TomaHawk can be bought at dealers and online at rockymounts.com.
