Salsa Cycles is steamrolling into 2017 with the launch of a new full suspension mountain bike design, the Deadwood SUS.The Salsa Deadwood is short-travel 29er designed around massive 29x3in tires.

The Deadwood SUS is a unique take on a performance-oriented adventure bike intended for long backcountry rides and endurance racing.
Salsa added 'SUS' to the name to distinguish this new model from the steel 29 drop bar mountain bike the company introduced in 2015, which was quickly replaced by the carbon-framed Cutthroat.
This new short-travel trail bike has 100mm of front suspension paired with 91mm in the rear controlled by Dave Weagle’s Split Pivot suspension system.
The Deadwood’s front triangle is constructed from carbon, while the seat and chainstays are aluminum.
The claimed weights for the three complete Deadwood SUS models range from 30 to 33lb / 13.6 to 14.9kg.

The top bike in the Deadwood SUS line uses a SRAM Eagle XO1 drivetrain with Guide RS brakes and a RockShox Reverb seatpost.
The wheelset consists of WTB Asym i35 rims laced to DT Swiss 350 hubs and retails for $5,999 / AU$9900.

The frame-only option shares the same paint scheme as the top bike and retails for $2,499.

The mid-level Deadwood SUS uses Shimano’s XT brakes and drivetrain in a 1x11 configuration with an 11-46 cassette. The build also includes a RockShox Reverb seatpost.

The entry-level Deadwood SUS uses a SRAM GX1 drivetrain with SRAM’s Level T brakes.
It also uses WTB i35 rims laced to DT Swiss 370 hubs and retails for $3,799 / AU$6,250.

All three models as well as the frameset are equipped with RockShox Monarch RT3 shocks.
The complete bikes also come with 180mm rotors, 30t chainrings and WTB’s 29x3in tubeless-ready Ranger tires.
The top two models come with 100mm RockShox Pike forks and RockShox Reverb seatposts that vary in drop from 100mm on the small and medium sizes, 125mm on the large, and 150mm on the XL.
