Scottish Bike Show 'bigger and better' for 2012

Demo tracks, BMX display and bike expo

The Scottish Bike Show is back for 2012 after a successful debut this year. Organisers promise the event on 13-15 April will be "bigger and better", with all three days open to the public, a larger hall and more bike brands on display.

The indoor test track and forest trail will return, with the latter now twice the size and offering a choice of easy, medium and tricky routes to demo the latest mountain bikes on. The BSD Forever crew will again be pulling off some crazy tricks in the BMX street park, and the latest bikes and gear will be on show in the expo area.

Unlike at some other trade shows, there'll be products available to buy too. "It's a consumer show in its truest sense," organiser Rowan Mackie told BikeRadar. "What went down well last time was that consumers could come along and actually buy stuff rather than there just being a small area allocated to retail and the rest just being a showcase."

There's a new addition to the event in the form of the Scottish Bike Show Sportive. Routes for the road ride on 15 April are still to be confirmed but there'll be a choice of 'challenge' or 'sportive' length rides, taking in some beautiful scenery in the area around Loch Lomond.

Some 5,100 people attended this year's show and organisers are expecting at least double that number through the doors in 2012. For more information, visit www.thescottishbikeshow.com.
