Plus Q&A with Steve Peat

Sections from all 10 of Alex Rankin's classic mountain bike films – the Sprung and Earthed series – are to be shown in chronological order at this year's Sheffield Adventure Film Festival.

The screening on 5 March, dubbed Progression, will give the audience a rare chance to watch the evolution of the 'gravity' side of the sport, from the flexy boneshakers of 1998's Sprung to the highly evolved downhill weaponery of 2007's Earthed 5.

It'll be followed by a Q&A session with 2009 downhill world champion, and Sheffield local, Steve Peat – who pops up throughout both series – who'll discuss how he's managed to stay on top for over a decade, and how he sees the sport developing in future.

Thisissheffield, CGCC and Ride Sheffield are planning to hold some kind of race earlier in the day – details should be announced shortly on www.thisisheffield.co.uk – and there'll be an afterparty in the bar at the Showroom Cinema.
