Shimano has launched two new enduro-specific items: a pair of top-of-the-range shoes and a backpack.
The new SH-M200 is the Japanese manufacturer's flagship endurance race shoe. Shimano says it incorporates the company's TORBAL technology (torsional balance for the best contact between foot and pedal) for optimum efficiency.
Shimano also says that a special 'dual density extra-cushion' insole offers stability on the pedals but with extra shock absorption. A moulded, raised rubber sole, micro-adjust buckle and 'adaptable speed lacing closure system' are further features of the new shoes, while the rubber outer-soles should enable you to gain good traction against whatever terrain you face.
The M200 shoes weigh 762g (size 40) and are available in sizes 38-50 in black or Army Green colours.
Meanwhile, Shimano's new enduro backpack (U4E) has been created in conjunction with pro riders for the 'ultimate comfort and efficiency while riding'.
Ergonomic and lightweight, it features a tool and pump organiser, eyewear holder, zippered fleece pocket, reflective details and a loop for a light attachment as well as special storage areas for a full-face helmet and armour, plus a goggle/helmet clip to keep hold of them and an outer pocket for a water bottle or jacket storage.
A removable waist belt and a hydration pack reservoir, and compression cord for improved stability, are two other noteworthy characteristics, while a special X-Harness is said to be the key contact between you and the bag. The U4E hugs the body for best placement while riding, says Shimano, with self-adjustment flaps enabling you to fine-tune the body-hugging fit on the fly.
The backpack has a 4l hold capacity, weighs 605g and comes in two different liveries: black/yellow or black/lightning blue.
