Got US$4,500 (about £2,800) kicking about for an urban commuter bike? Then you'll be interested in a closer look at the Shinola Runwell Di2 Limited Edition, which put a glint in our eye at Interbike.

The company, who plan to open a shop in London, have created a name for themselves making high performing retro-inspired bikes in Detroit, once famed for its car building tradition.

The double-butted chromoly frame with backsweep bars is equipped with a Shimano Alfine groupset, which includes an 11-speed internal hub, 160mm hydraulic disc brakes and electronic Di2 shifters.

The cables are internally routed and the leather handlebar grips and saddle come from the Shinola division that makes handbags costing hundreds of dollars. It's also fitted with German bike light specialist Supernova's dynamo driven E3 Pro 2.

Shinola are making a habit of turning out limited edition Runwells. Earlier this year, we reported on a brass-plated model for the Baselworld watch show.

On the diverse company's plan to open a London shop, CEO Steve Bock said: "London, with its universal appeal, makes for a great opportunity and natural choice for Shinola to open a company store"

Until that unspecified date, UK residents after the Runwell Limited Edition will have to ship it over. An exact price in pounds is still to be confirmed.

If the Runwell Limited Edition isn't racy enough, how about the US$5,000 limited edition Bellitanner Cab New York? We first saw the 5kg (11lb) singlespeed decked out in an AX Lightness finishing kit and high profile carbon rims at Eurobike.
