SRAM has announced the introduction of X0-level hubs to accompany the recently updated X0 groupset. The front hub will retail for US$197, while the rear hub will cost US$364 (UK pricing is yet to be announced). The hubset will be available this December.
SRAM chose to go back to the drawing board when designing the X0 hub’s internals, placing an emphasis on fast engagement and the incorporation of larger pawls, presumably to increase durability.
The X0 freehub uses four large pawls arranged in perpendicular pairs to engage 26 teeth simultaneously, at 52 points, for 6.9 degrees of engagement (compared to 10 degrees of engagement for a DT Swiss hub with an upgraded 36-tooth Star Ratchet freehub).
The large size of the pawls should increase the durability of the mechanism and help it cope with the high torque loads generated by a 42-tooth cog. The X0 hub will be compatible with 10-speed and 11-speed XD driver bodies.

The new X0 rear hub has 6.9 degrees of engagement and a 250g claimed weight
The front hub is compatible with 9mm quick-release as well as 15mm and 20mm thru-axles. The rear hub will work with 135mm quick-release and 142×12 thru-axle frames.
Both the front and rear hubs use press-fit endcaps for tool-free installation. The endcaps are symmetrical, so there’s no need to worry about which belongs on the right or left side of the hub.
X0 hubshells are constructed from forged aluminum. The flanges are angled inwards to better align spokes with the rim, reducing stress on the spokes. The X0 hub will be available in 28- and 32-hole drillings. Claimed weights are 130g (front) and 250g (rear).
