Stages Cycling power meters will be available to buy in the UK for the first time, with the Colorado company striking a deal with distributors Saddleback. Full pricing is below, but customers can expect to pay between £799 for a Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 unit and £599 for a SRAM Rival-GXP model. The crank-based power meters will be available from early September. Until now, UK customers have had to buy from the US.

Doug Crawford, vice president of Stages Cycling, said: “We’ve had substantial customer interest in the UK and we’re so excited to have Saddleback on board to fill those riders’ needs. We are expanding our international distribution very carefully to ensure complete customer satisfaction.”

The development comes less than a month after the Garmin Vector power meter pedals were announced and PowerTap dropped prices for their wheel-based system.

Stages released their lightweight, strain gauge-based system at Interbike in 2012. The units work by measuring beam deflection in the crank and transferring data to head units via ANT . The units are compatible with a range of aluminium cranks in on and off-road groupsets.

Stages cycling have developed a range of power meter products, though they are limited to use in aluminium cranks : - Stages Cycling
