Tern’s pocket-sized Surge has never looked quite so mad

Taiwanese folding bike specialist Tern has dropped pictures of a no expense spared version of its 20in minivelo the Surge.

Posted earlier today to the brand’s Facebook page, the build looks like the result of someone hacking an online configurator. Dressed in Dura-Ace 9100 mechanical components and sporting Tern’s own 20in carbon tri-spoke wheels, it’s an assault on the senses as well as the wallet.

Other spec highlights include a full Deda Elementi cockpit, Miche’s Supertype seatpost and Fizik's Arione saddle along with PRO’s Aerofuel Tri Cage saddle mount. Completing this slightly ludicrous build is a dimpled aero water bottle at the heart of its smooth-welded alloy frame.

The spendy post, saddle and tri cage only add to the weirdness of this build - Tern

The Surge is normally an entry-level bike built around Shimano’s Claris drivetrain. It's part of Tern’s larger Roji range, which pairs traditional diamond frames with smaller, city friendly wheels.

To be honest, we’ll never tire of seeing builds such as this one.
