Time trialist dies after Nottinghamshire lorry collision

Police appealing for witnesses to Sunday morning incident

A 43-year-old cyclist has died after a collision with a HGV on the southbound carriageway of the A1 near Blyth yesterday morning.

Although Nottinghamshire Police have yet to confirm the identity of the rider, it is believed to be Andrew Ridsdale of Epsom CC, who was taking part in the Trent Valley 10-mile time trial. The incident occurred at 8.55am on Sunday, with the cyclist pronounced dead at the scene.

While no arrests have been made, the force’s crash investigation unit has launched an appeal for witnesses. Contact 101, ext 800 2225 to speak to an officer.
