The UK’s first women’s downhill mountain biking series has been launched, organised by Diva Descent. The British Cycling accredited races will be held over the summer in the Scottish Borders, North East England, Gloucestershire and Wales.
Diva Descent’s courses start with a track walk and training practice under expert instruction from some of the country’s top riders such as Helen Gaskell on the Saturday with races take place on the Sunday.
The price of the weekend is £120, which includes coaching on the Saturday, uplift and entry to the race on the Sunday. The races can be entered separately for £60.
The first event, in Scotland, coincides with 10 days of cycling events as part of the Tweedlove cycling festival, which has also opened entries for a women’s criterium on 27 May.
