Velothon Wales pre-registrations to close on Thursday

Overwhelming demand means early closure for new 10,000 rider sportive

Velothon Berlin is one of Europe's biggest, with 14,000 cyclists taking part

Velothon Wales organisers are to close pre-registation for the mass-participation sportive on Thursday, 11 September at 10am, following huge demand for the 10,000-rider event.

Those interested in riding can still sign up now to guarantee their entry during a week-long priority booking window that will open in the coming weeks.

The event, which takes place on 14 June, 2015, has courted thousands of pre-registrations from throughout the UK and Europe and is set to be a huge event, in the mould of the enormously successful RideLondon. Cyclists will take over Cardiff city centre and test themselves over a challenging 120km route that includes the infamous Tumble climb – featured on today’s Tour of Britain stage.

The amateurs will then make way for the professionals, who will race a similar course in a UCI-sanctioned event that’s hoping to attract many of the world’s top riders and teams.
