The North American Handmade Bicycle Show has just taken place in Richmond, Virginia, giving frame builders the chance to show off a level of craftsmanship that is rarely seen on your run-of-the-mill bike shop floor.
On day one of the show we brought you models from Cielo, Vanilla and Pegoretti, followed by machines taking advantage of Shimano’s Dura-Ace Di2 groupset. Carbon and bamboo bikes were another highlight, as well as the amazing attention to detail and graphics that some builders showcased.
In this video, filmed by Martin Renwick of Vuelo Velo, Nick Crumpton of Crumpton Cycles talks about how and why he got into frame building and the reasons behind using carbon as his number one choice of bike building material.
Then Renold Yip of Yipsan tells us about creating beautiful bikes by hand using modern fitting concepts and materials but with traditional skills.
