Nukeproof are going to be hitting the downhill scene in a big way this year, with the new ChainReactionCycles.com/Nukeproof team aiming for World Cup glory and the announcement this week that they'll also be fielding a two-man junior squad.

Both the new signings are already champions in Ireland – Christopher McGlinchey holds the Junior title and Dan Sheridan the Under-16 honours. This year they'll be competing in selected World Cup events, the British Downhill Series and the Irish Downhill National Points Series. You can watch a video of them in action below – which is also the first chance to see Nukeproof's new Scalp downhill bike in action.

Christopher, known as 'Kipper', started racing in 2006. “I'm really excited about riding for Nukeproof," said the 16-year-old from Belfast, Northern Ireland. "All the products are amazing and I do feel the support will help me go on to achieve the goals I've set for this year. My main goal will be to try and qualify at the World Cups and to defend my national Junior title."

Dan, 15, from Dublin, started racing in 2007 and won the 2008 and 2010 Irish National Championships in his respective categories. "2011 will be my first season racing in the Junior category so it’s great to have Nukeproof supporting me," he said. “It’s a big step up but for me but my goals are to win the 2011 Irish Championships, top five overall in the BDS and qualify at the World Cups I attend. I want to gain as much racing experience as possible."
