The brand new Wahoo Elemnt GPS computer just added integration with SRAM eTap and Shimano Di2 electronic drivetrains, plus fields for muscle oxygenation for third-party sensors from BSXInsight and Moxy Monitor.

With a firmware update, the Elemnt can show real-time gearing information for eTap and Di2 in graphic and/or numeric form, along with battery status for the electronic drivetrains.

Shimano 9070 Dura-Ace Di2 users can use the Di2 hood buttons to control the Elemnt, by changing pages, starting and stopping laps and zooming in and out on pages.

For muscle oxygen sensors like BSXinsight or Moxy, the Elemnt can now display current, average, minimum and maximum values for SmO2 (muscle oxygenation) and tHb (total hemoglobin) metrics.

As with all Elemnt updates, the firmware upgrade works over WiFi with a few clicks on the computer or via a paired smartphone.

"Smartphones and other connected devices receive updates and new features all the time,” Wahoo Fitness CEO Chip Hawkins said in a press release. “While designing the Elemnt, we said, ‘why shouldn’t the same apply to cycling computers?’”

“The introduction of eTap and Di2 support is only the first in a long line of planned feature releases,” Hawkins said. “We see the Elemnt as a living product and our development process will continue to reflect that. Just because a product is already on the market doesn’t mean that it should have to serve as a time capsule.”
