Riders will bang bars on the new four-cross track at Afan Bike Park for the first time at this weekend's Welsh 4X Championship.

Designed by World Championship course designer Phil Saxena, the track is just over 500m long and includes massive jumps, a corkscrew bridge corner and what is claimed to be the longest four-cross rock garden ever built.

Confirmed riders for the race on Sunday (8 August) include current NPS 4X series leader (and BikeRadar Live course designer) Will Longden, Scott Beaumont and Scott Roberts. As none of these riders is Welsh – all nationalities are welcome to come and race – competition for the prestigious national title is still wide open.

Entry costs £20 online or £25 on the day, and there are categories for riders aged 12 and upwards. Welsh Championship jerseys and medals will be awarded in the Under-16, Senior Ladies and Senior Men categories. The event is free for spectators, with parking costing just £1.

For more details, include registration, accommodation (there's a lodge, log cabins and camping), race schedule and more, visit the NPS 4X series website.
