Wiggle Super Series 2014 sportives calendar set for launch

Entry to some events expected to be tough

A series of sportives that attracted almost 40,000 riders this year is set to unveil a bigger 2014 event line-up – and competition for places is expected to be as tough of some of the climbs in the events.

The Wiggle Super Series will be officially launched on Wednesday, 23 October. In the year that the Tour de France visits Yorkshire, organisers UK Cycling Events expect some of their French-flavoured events to sell out in hours.

This year's Super Series, which included the Wiggle New Forest Spring Sportive and the Wiggle Ups and Downs, held 36 events all over the country. Almost 75 percent of the rides sold out ahead of the event.

UK Cycling Events' Martin Barden said: "Uptake and feedback for the 2013 Wiggle Super Series was absolutely phenomenal. It was our biggest calendar of events so far. In response to the demand we are expanding the Wiggle Super Series in 2014 with six additional exciting events that will provide even more people the opportunity to get out and ride.”

Highlights of the upcoming series include the Wiggle French Revolution and Wiggle French Resistance, which will give UK riders an opportunity to hop over the Channel and ride in France with full technical support.

All events in the series will include feed stations, mechanical support, chip timing, course marking, massages, bike wash facilities, finishers’ medals and T-shirts.
