Lapierre/Oakley rider Will Longden took the pro win at the first round of the 2010 NPS 4X series at UK Bike Park in Dorset on Sunday.

Deep mud caused by torrential rain prompted many riders to run spiked tyres, and also led to the cancellation of the Dirt Wars jump comp.

New corners, jumps and rollers made for close racing, helped by a record entry of 143 riders. Will Evans (Morewood/ Will PowerSC) and Duncan Ferris (DMRbikes ) came second and third respectively in the pro men's class behind BikeRadar Live course builder Longden.

Nicola Anderson (Team Nakedracing) took the women's win in her first four-cross race, ahead of Kerry Wrigglesworth (O’Neal/Electric UK) and Terry Anne Busbridge (Fox Europe/P Yates Cycles).

The next round of the series takes place at Harthill, Cheshire on Saturday 29 May, with round four of the Euro Fourcross Series on Sunday 30 May. For full results go to www.nps4x.com.
