XeNTiS used Eurobike to announce that their already light wheelsets have been further slimmed down for 2013, yielding some pretty impressive figures.

The company have a new line in the Squad clincher range, and the all-new Silver series gets a fresh unidirectional carbon fibre rim, with a slick-looking matte coating and new hubs compatible with straight-pull spokes. New internals now feature full ceramic bearings too.

The new Squad 2.5 is XeNTiS’ take on the climber’s wheelset, and with a claimed weight of just 1,016g for the tubulars (with the clinchers at 1,242g) this is one seriously lightweight pairing. Most wheels approaching this mass have a pretty strict weight limit for riders – XeNTiS’ is set at 90kg (198.4lb or 14.2 stone).

The 4.2 version gets a 42mm section rim and comes in both tubular and clincher form, at 1,216g for the tub pair and 1,394g for the clinchers. The deepest aero offering, the 5.8, is 58mm deep and XeNTiS say it tips the scales at 1,376g (tubular pair) or 1,496g (clinchers).

All the wheels will be available with Campagnolo or Shimano/SRAM freehubs, and the new Shimano 11-speed freehub body.
