Scotchlite logos and stripes on Altura’s welded-seam, waterproof pannier mean that it shines safety-vest bright in car headlights.
While you could hi-vis up any pannier with an £11 Respro sticker kit, you’d pay £55 or so for a waterproof pannier alone, making this Altura model an economical first purchase for all-weather commuters.
The 20-litre pannier is left/right reversible, and the Rixen Kaul Klickfix hooks are great. Inserts accommodate narrower gauge racks, and the big release catch allows one-handed pannier removal.
A deep, buckled lid fits over a drawstring-closed main compartment, and there are a couple of thin internal pockets, plus a detachable shoulder strap. It’s also available in yellow.
