A great alternative to a backpack when you don’t need to pack too much stuff Buy if, You don't like to ride with a backpack but still need somewhere to stow your essentials

Pros:

Super-comfy, with well-thought-out padding; optional harness helps it fit more riders

Cons:

A lot of internal space is lost when the bladder is full

The Source Hipster is one of the new wave of sporty bumbags aimed at those looking to shed the pack off their back but still carry all the essentials.

It sits nicely on the hips and doesn’t move much when you shift about on the bike. The cushioned back panel keeps things super-comfy without needing to overtighten the waist strap, too.

It comes with a removable harness, which is a great way to fine tune the fit for varying body shapes and adds stability for those with a more slender frame.

Source’s 1.5l bladder uses its ‘Glass-Like Technology’ to stop the build-up of waterborne nasties and the braided hose is held out of the way with a magnetic clasp, which, once properly adjusted, stayed put in all conditions.

Six pockets help to keep your kit in order and easy to access, and the bright contrast lining is a nice touch when rummaging for items. Bungee loops allow you to stash a rolled-up jacket or jersey.

You’ll want to be sensible with your packing though — the Hipster doesn’t swallow much gear, especially with a full bladder, so prepare to travel light. I just about managed to fit in a pump, multi-tool, tube and some gels.
