Dispensing with the usual do-you-need-carbon-here spiel, let's get straight to the point and ask: is the Powerplay CR1 carbon a good bottle cage?
The answer, sadly for Powerplay, is that it's not. The rubber insert to stop the bottle moving around is a nice touch, but the sprung sides just aren't stiff enough to keep hold of even a 500ml bottle on a bumpy country lane, let alone a 750ml bottle or a bottle battery. If you're desperate to lose the 20g that a carbon cage will shed, why not just buy a decent aluminium one for four quid and spend the £20 you save on a few sessions down the gym? > >
