Vast power, but dumb default settings and potential battery fit issues don’t match huge price

The latest Betty 12 packs seven Cree XM LEDs into its broad, short head unit. The O-ring mount design, which Lupine pioneered, still means simple and secure mounting.

There’s a battery life/light mode traffic light above the switch that can also be used to reprogramme the massively bright or very dim default setting. The new solid battery gives ample run at full whack plus a push button charge indicator.

It’s heavy though and the 145mm length with a single central security strap can be hard to home, particularly on more curvaceous frames. With a claimed 2600 lumen output it creates a tunnel of almost daylight brightness.

There are variances within the beam though, including an obvious edge between central punch and the relatively restricted peripheral ring. Reliability of previous Betty and Wilma lights hasn’t matched their vast price either.
